Declieuxia, a genus of Rubiaceae tribe Psychotrieae, contains shrubs, subshrubs, and perennial herbs, and is found in neotropical savanna vegetation from Santa Catarina, Brazil, to Chiapas, Mexico, and Pinar del Rio, Cuba. It is distinguished from all close relatives by drupaceous laterally compressed schizocarps. Included in this treatment of Declieuxia are keys, descriptions, and distributions maps.
Joseph Harold Kirkbride (b. 1943) is a botanist and professor specializing in Cucurbitaceae. He was a graduate student of Howard Irwin at The New York Botanical Garden/City University of New York. Today he is a Research Botanist at the U.S. National Arboretum in the Floral and Nursery Plants Research Unit. He is curator of the US National Seed Herbarium and studies the Taxonomy of Fabaceae and Cucurbitaceae families.
